My Year of Beds Author to speak to Lake Zurich Rotary Friday

Image            Annette Jahnel, the South African author of My Year of Beds, is visiting the Lake Zurich Rotary Club on Friday as part of her world book tour.  She was the first woman to circle the globe by car and the book is her tale of the people she met, the traffic jams she endured, and the beds she occupied, mostly in private homes.

“My purpose was - and is - to keep people aware of the fact that in spite of many interesting (and sometimes conflicting) differences... we remain a single family on a very small planet.”  She has spoken at many Rotary Clubs because her philosophy is very simiar to the Rotarian way of thinking.

Her presentation is part travelogue, part motivational speech.  “If you’ve ever dreamed about stepping out into a real life adventure – but never quite found the time,” Annette says, “I invite you to join the quest.”

The Lake Zurich Rotary Club meets on Fridays for lunch at 12:15 at the Holiday Inn Express, 195 S. Rand Rd., Lake Zurich.  First-time guests eat for free.
